INDEPENDENT KITER & WINGFOILER
Tarifa has over 300 windy days a year which makes it the wind capital of Europe. The wind varies from very strong to thermic and light. Check WIND & FORECASTS for all you need to know.
RENTAL
For the rental of kite gear and supervision we can recommend Kite Routes! They have the newest Duotone gear and can also provide you with a harness and wetsuit. For only € 90 per day (+/- 3 hours) you can get all the gear you need and they will be at the beach to supervise you!
At the house we also have a 135 twintip available for free (make sure to reserve).
For wingfoiling we recommend you to rent gear at the spot. The prices and quality are similar at the different stations and you can change gear when conditions change.
WETSUIT GUIDE
In winter a good 4/3 or 5/4 is enough, no real need for boots, caps or gloves.
In summer a 3/2 full suit or shorty (2/2 or preferably more) is sufficient. Be aware, the water further out is cold, so even if it feels like you can kite in your bikini/shorts, in case something happens you’ll be hypothermic in no time. So only ‘tourists’ kite without wetsuit, just saying.
SPOTS

Between mid June and mid September you are not allowed to kite and wingfoil in town (rest of the year you can kite anywhere, for spots with offshore levante check the spot guide). This period we kite mostly behind camping Rio Jara, while wingfoil is done mostly at Valdevaqueros and at Waves at Los Lances.
With offshore wind the ‘New Angels‘ or ‘Sea Rescue‘ pick you up you in case of emergency. Buy a rescue card before you go on the water and take it with you. You can buy them at all the kite shops.
You can also go kiting and wingfoiling further at Valdevaqueros with offshore wind (the big dune is there to catch you with offshore wind) and with more thermic wind with onshore Poniente. In summer its very crowded so then we only go there in the rare occasion it’s the only place with wind.
KITE LESSONS
We work with KITE FUN already for 11 years. This is one of the best kite schools in Tarifa. They have best and nicest teachers to learn to kite and teach away from the busy spots. Be sure to book before you come to Tarifa because they are quickly fully booked!
- Group lesson: 1 kite per 2 persons (max 4 per group) 25 € per hour
- Closed group lesson: 1 kite, 2 persons and 1 instructor 30 € per hour
- Semi private: 2 persons, 2 kites, 1 instructor 40 € per hour
- Private: 1 person, 1 instructor 60 € per hour

WINGFOIL LESSONS
For Wingfoil lessons we highly recommend ATV WING SCHOOL. For a complete introduction and progression into wingfoiling, from your very first flight over the water to advanced riding techniques. Lessons are designed for all levels, with a strong focus on safety, confidence, and fast learning. Adapting the coaching to your level, using modern equipment and proven teaching methods.
The goal is simple: to get you comfortable on the water as quickly and safely as possible, and to make wingfoiling feel natural, fluid, and fun.
